God's Majesty- Omnipresent, Omniscient
Scripture- "Can a man hide himself in hiding places so I do not see him?" declares the LORD "Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" declares the LORD. Jeremiah 23:24 (NASB)”
Today, we are taking a look at God’s majesty by exploring two more qualities that display His greatness and splendor.
God is Omnipresent
Omnipresent means to be present in all places at all times. This is on of the amazing qualities of our Lord and Savior. It is encouraging to know that He is everywhere all at once because then we can find comfort that He is with us even in our low moments when we are “down in the dumps”.
Psalm 139 paints a vivid picture of God’s omnipresence. There we read:
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. (NKJV)
There has been no point in our lives that God has not been there! We are assured in this Psalm that from conception God was there and from that moment all our days were written, and He knew them all. He knows when we sit down and when we rise up and is familiar with all our ways. That’s why He tells us, as he did Joshua, to not be afraid because He would be with us wherever we go. He promises to never leave or forsake us. (Joshua 1:5)
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
We can live this life with confidence and without anxiety when we truly believe in God’s promise to be with us no matter what. Even when situations seem questionable or grim, we can know that He is there.
God is Omniscient
To be omniscient is to have infinite or unlimited knowledge, awareness, understanding and insight. Psalm 139:4 tells us that “there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, you know it altogether”. God understands our thoughts “afar off” (v 2) and “comprehends our path” (v 3).
Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite. Psalm 147:5 (NASB)
There is nothing that goes on in heaven, on earth or under the earth that God does not know about or understand. Isn’t it great to know that amidst all of life’s ups and downs there is a God who sees and knows? And it is doubly great that we serve a God that knows our future! Talk about a weight off your shoulders…we don’t have to worry about what our future holds because we know who holds the future.
Of Himself, God declares, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” And he promises that the plans he has for us are to prosper and not to harm, to give hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
We can rest assured that the majestic God we serve, because of His nature, will make good on every promise he has ever made to us.
The omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient God can never fail.
"...For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, (Isaiah 46:9-10)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your unfailing love and watch care over me. I am truly glad to serve a God like you- One who cannot fail. I praise you for your wondrous works in all the earth, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
